Pirate Stew

These guys show up in my first novel that I posted Chapter 1 on. They all make their first appearance in Chapter 2. Here's what going on:

Husk Reinstrom (the squirrel) was on a journey southward with his friend Kojen the otter. Kojen was going south anyway so might as well take Husk along aboard his raft. And it so happened, Kojen's youngest daughter Nineveh stowed away, mischievous little child that she is.

Here they stopped to forage for food and they eventually cooked up some sort of stew made up of whatever they found. At that moment, Kojen recalled a song sung by pirates and broke into song. After he sang it once, Nineveh and Husk joined in their voices.

Here's the song:

I be hungry, much more than a little.
My stomach’s going to eat my gut
The cook be getting’ us some vittles
And cooking up God knows what.

O one by one goes into the pot
A barrel o’ bilge water an’ rot
Seabird gut squishes,
Half decomposed fishes,
And anythin’ else we got!

What to do with that barnacle bunch
And those pesky roaches below.
They should add a salty crush
So into the stew they go.

Pluck the seaweed from the blue,
T’will make a nice pasty goo.
There be nothin’ left on the shelf,
So toss in good ole Cooky himself!

So eat up but hold yer breath
T’will only feed me and a few.
Much better than starvin’ t’death
So shut up an’ have some pirate stew!
