Pirate Stew by 1-Renaissance Pirate Stew by 1-Renaissance
These guys show up in my first novel that I posted Chapter 1 on. They all make their first appearance in Chapter 2. Here's what going on:

Husk Reinstrom (the squirrel) was on a journey southward with his friend Kojen the otter. Kojen was going south anyway so might as well take Husk along aboard his raft. And it so happened, Kojen's youngest daughter Nineveh stowed away, mischievous little child that she is.

Here they stopped to forage for food and they eventually cooked up some sort of stew made up of whatever they found. At that moment, Kojen recalled a song sung by pirates and broke into song. After he sang it once, Nineveh and Husk joined in their voices.

Here's the song:

I be hungry, much more than a little.
My stomach’s going to eat my gut
The cook be getting’ us some vittles
And cooking up God knows what.

O one by one goes into the pot
A barrel o’ bilge water an’ rot
Seabird gut squishes,
Half decomposed fishes,
And anythin’ else we got!

What to do with that barnacle bunch
And those pesky roaches below.
They should add a salty crush
So into the stew they go.

O one by one goes into the pot,
A barrel o’ bilge water an’ rot.
Seabird gut squishes,
Half decomposed fishes,
And anythin’ else we got!

Pluck the seaweed from the blue,
T’will make a nice pasty goo.
There be nothin’ left on the shelf,
So toss in good ole Cooky himself!

O one by one goes into the pot
A barrel o’ bilge water an’ rot
Seabird gut squishes
Half decomposed fishes
And anythin’ else we got!

So eat up but hold yer breath
T’will only feed me and a few.
Much better than starvin’ t’death
So shut up an’ have some pirate stew!

O one by one goes into the pot
A barrel o’ bilge water an’ rot
Seabird gut squishes
Half decomposed fishes
And anythin’ else we got!

But awesome anyway =P

Thanks, mate. :D

Good pencils? I use the same lead pencil I use at school and for just about everything I use a pencil for.

YAAAY!! :D Husk reminds me of Felldoh. I like the way you draw your characters. Kojens face somewhat reminds me of Scar the lion. Their tails look as sharp as swords. Nice song :D and I bet Kojen's quite the cook too :)

Kojen was just putting a face for Nineveh which she found amusing. But yeah he kind of does resemble Scar.

You're right. Kojen is a good cook, almost as good as his wife. They can make a good meal from just about anything edible they find.

...and thank you! :D

Your welcome :D. I absolutely love these. Compared to the Redwall illustrations, theirs doesnt even reach the same level as yours.

Thank you! :D:D:D

I'm not particularly fond of Gary Chalk's illustrations. But David Elliot's is by far the best. They contributed to the inspiration of my own sketches.

I love daves too, I forgot to mention that. Garys to me look ugly. At least daves look more realistic. And thats great that he inspired you. Its nice to have inspiration, makes you perform better.

WOW, awesome poem/song! Heh, a lot better than I could ever do (and please don't ask me to try). Aww, the little girl-otter is cute! I love those two big dark eyes! :D :D :D The artwork is wonderful, and the story sounds delightful. :D :w00t:

Thank you, mate. And no, I won't ask you to try. :D I think I made up the song when I was looking for something to eat for dinner. I abandoned my search to write it down.

Thanks again!:D

I did too. When I was drawing it I planned to make one like it sometime in the future. I'll live somewhere by a river!

Heh... I can't find the book. My brother must have packed it away when we were cleaning out our bookshelves, and now it is presumably lodged safely in a mini storage 5 miles away from here.

Hell, blast, damn. A thousand curses.

A bloody balls-up, moving is. >_<
