As promised, everyone's favorite weasels are here! Ferahgo the Assassin and Klitch.
There are plenty of scenes in the book Salamandastron (Brian Jacques) in which father and son appear together. But for some reason this was one of my favorite Ferahgo and Klitch moments.
Here's what's going on. Ferahgo is injured from a failed plan to get into Salamandastron. So his back was blistered by boiling water. His son Klitch was enjoying the whole thing:
Sickear dabbed seawater gently on the injured weasel, backing off a few paces every time the Assassin winced.
"Water from the sea is all we've got, Master. It smarts, but it cures. We used it for all injuries when I was searattin'."
Klitch was enjoying the whole thing hugely. He leaned down close to his father's face as he mocked him. "Ah then, did the naughty badger roast your bottom, O ruler of all the Southwest and Leader of the Corpsemakers. Never mind then, you leave it to young wet-behind-the-ears Klitch. I'll take charge for a while."
Ferahgo arched his back in agony as the seawater trickled onto it. Sweat beaded on his lips and nose as he gritted around the dagger blade at his grunting son, "Oh yes? And what's your brilliant plan, you little toad?"
Yeah I know that Ferahgo wasn't supposed to have his tunic on when Sickear was tending to his injuries. Oh well.
Ferahgo the Assassin and his son Klitch had the weirdest father-son relationships. The two would constantly argue and throw insults at each other. But it's somewhat clear that Ferahgo does value his son and wouldn't even kill him. I've noticed that he even uses the term "my son" quite often as if he is proud of Klitch.
As for the sketch itself, Ferahgo the Assassin is the weasel on the left, sitting over a rock with his back arched. Klitch is on the right, taunting him.
I didn't want to make Klitch look evil because he's described as "a handsome-looking beast with the brightest blue eyes Mara had ever seen." and "All in all he appeared quite dashing."
As for Ferahgo, he was supposed to have beautiful blue eyes. But I can't make them blue in a sketch now could I? They don't look so beautiful now because he's really pissed off.
And that's Sickear in the back, dabbing a rag in seawater to heal Ferahgo.
